power packed January zapped all my time and energy!! opening of Resorts World kept me busy for the past 2 weeks. Hundreds of phone call flooding in everyday, with desperate tour guides shouting at me over the phone all because they wanted to get a seat for the familiarisation tour. Had to quarrel with these unreasonable, irritable and troublesome guides daily. congrats to them for successfully driving my blood pressure up by quite a bit...bet my blood pressure was 160/100 throughout that week.HAHAHA!! I HATE THEM!!!! but well, i ain't such a pushover afterall, since i managed to survive through the weeks. what's more was that i was in the midst of preparing for my human movement module exams. KAO!!! what a week. anyway, fact is that i am a admin staff...not service line so i cant find any reason why i should take all their bullshit and not shout back at them.hahaha. and i've got to take my hats off to my "PRO" chairman..so helpful of her to help me do up the list...and all i got after that was ERRORS ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!! missing names for all the different dates, arbo is this guy booked this date, but in her list the name is on another date...i'm not trying to be harsh or ungrateful here but she is really 越帮越忙...i would have received less scoldings and shoutings if she had let me do the name list on my own..and she thinks her computer/excel skills damn good...wanna take the chance to show off her skills then end up giving me more trouble and work to do..ARGH!!!! >:[ enough talk about the bad start to a brand new year. let's do some recollection of some fond childhood memories. hahaha. my life has been a rather eventful one(though not as dramatic as some others), but maybe can consider writing a book/movie script based on it. probably a comedy. first of all, let talk about my greatest love, my family. having to feed 4 kids in the 80's was surely not an easy task. hence, i really admire my parents for all their hard work and love for us. the scene where mummy held my hands on my first day to school will always be etched in my heart. that pair of hands..so big and warm. vaguely remembered that will some kids were crying and tugging onto their mother's clothes refusing to step into the school coz they are afraid etc; but i was hopping happily and getting all excited about meeting new friends!!! :D i think i did turned back to look at mummy before i went in. hahaha. then after school, i would sit by the long flight of stairs to wait for mummy to come and pick me up. as usual, i would buy a packet of i-forgot-what-the-kueh is called from this old granny outside the school, everyday without fail. something like yam cake with red sauce. how i miss the taste of it!! and it only cost about 50cents. <3 mum would bring me back home and we would tickle each other along the corridor. awww...so sweet!!! :D
i used to ask many of my friends how was their childhood like, their answers were either "like that lor, nothing much" or they would just do away with the topic with a few sentences, maybe mention abit about their tuition and a bit here and there. 相比之下, 我的童年似乎比他们的更多姿多彩,有数之不尽的美好回忆。maybe because i have more siblings? hahaha. anyway when i was young, dad was like a lion to me. he is always so stern and strict, like the king of the jungle. all my friends didnt dare to talk in his presence. his shoutings are like thunder roar. 他说一,我不敢说二。no bargaining and no playing a fool. everytime my siblings and I knew we got into trouble and we're gonna get caned when daddy comes home, we would wear 3 to 4 layers of pyjamas to prepare for the caning session and in my case, i would pretend to be asleep at 7 or 8pm. sometimes if i'm lucky, i would get away with it. if not, daddy would wake me up and feed me kuey teow. ): it's quite funny to share the similar memories with my siblings, where we remembered that our classmates would laugh at us for the cane marks the next day we went to school. and sometimes the cane marks looked not only like kuey teow but also like mi hoon kuey(when dad cant find his cane which mum had threw away and uses his 不求人)!!! :(((( ever remembered us hiding behind mum when dad was caning us for our mistakes and mum was like the mother hen in 老鹰捉小鸡,protecting us and telling dad that she was the one carrying us for 10months and giving birth to us and asking dad to stop caning us. hahahaha. ok, daddy has a softer side too. that silly man would give us medicated oil or some balm for us to rub on our mi hoon kuey after caning us. hahaa..and of course daddy was super cool to find time and bring us out for cycling trips every weekend. be it cycling at bedok reservoir or east coast park. that's the happiest moments for kids.that's what childhood should be like in default. and sometimes mum would bring us to swim too. kids just love to go out, even if it's just in the neighbourhood, because anything beyond the door of the house is an adventure. <3
of course my siblings played a huge role in my growing up. all those lame fights and quarrels and the classic shout-until-neighbours-want-to-call-police all because a huge moth flew into the house. hahaha!!!! and playing block catching,zero-point,ice-and-water and five stones. hahaha.always had to make a choice whether to follow my brothers and play catching or stay with my sis and play boring barbie dolls and five stones. woes of being the youngest at home. somehow my favourite would always be to play wrestling with my siblings on our parents bed. jump and jump and see who's the last survivor on the bed. hehehehe. getting nostalgic ley...((: will always remember how 2nd bro always getting into trouble because of his 牛脾气,因为他属牛!everytime the bathroom hook is spoilt, he's sure to be involved/is the culprit. i dont understand why he always spoils the toilet hook. hahahaha!!!
after saying so much about my family, it's time to talk about myself. what makes me eunice ting? hahahahaha!!! let's see...
ever tried dropping into your school's eco-garden pond? i did. my classmate and i always loved to sneak into the school's eco-garden to catch tadpoles in the pond. there was once where i was so curious and eager to know what's inside such a small tadpole, i squeezed it and "splat", a bit of red and nothing else. i didnt see the intestines that i was expecting to see in the tadpole. hahaha. i know that's a very cruel thing to do but please pardon me, i was just primary 1 then. then another time, my friend went to checked if the prefects were coming to lock the eco-garden after recess and i was kneeling by the side of the pond watching the tadpoles, totally engrossed. when she saw the prefects coming, she hurried back to inform me and gave me such a big and unexpected tap on my back that "PLOP" i went into the pond. soaking wet, i went back to the classroom and my teacher helped to give my mum a call. hahahaha!!! the rest of my primary school days were spent terrorizing my fellow group mates, as i was the group leader in my group. and having chicken rice+fishball noodles+fishballs for recess!! ok i know i do eat a bit more than normal kids of my age, but all that food didnt seem to go anywhere to help in my body development LEH!!! mum always say i "jiat liao bi"..sobs...i miss my primary school canteen food LA!!! ))): there was once where me and my 2 friends were lazy to walk to the front gate and decided to get out of school by climbing the back gate. everything went smoothly until one of my friend slipped and the sharp sharp thing went through her shirt and left her dangling on the gate for quite awhile. luckily some kind hearted aunties and uncles helped us save her. :D
wah this entry getting a bit long and draggy.bear with me ar people...hardly get the chance and mood to blog.let me nag a bit more...(((:
seriously i swear i don't remember much about studying or even preparing for PSLE. my brother told me the same thing too!!! guess our childhoods were too packed with exciting adventures that we didnt have time to study.hahaha!!! then lucky us went on to secondary school with ease. :D
while everyone thought that the fair-skinned girl who always keeps herself to her mp3 is autistic, she gradually opened herself up after joining volleyball. loads of happy and painful memories here. shall fast forward. basically secondary school was filled with lots of gate-climbing,morning exercises, math remedials and detention. as you know, majority of it was due to late-coming.hahahaha.listening to 933FM during chinese lesson was a joke. having breakfast with classmates outside school while waiting for first lesson to end was another.hahahaha. sounds like i'm very rebellious right? nope, i'm not. i only watch my friend catfight with another girl and giggle as i watch, i never get myself involved in these kind of things. at most i only vandalism my table, from white become black table...hahaha..got to admit chung cheng times were the best. it's a really good school. :D 今日我以中正为荣,明日中正以我为荣。love this motto. love the chinese temple-like buildings, love the white+red pe shirt with blue pants(ugly i know, but i like :P) ,love the volleyball courts, love the plugs and lockers beside our tables ,love the auditorium, love the basements and ghost stories, love my teachers and friends there! i am super proud to be a chung cheng-er!!! :D can never forget that we have to recite the national pledge in madarin every tuesday and thursday. typical cheena practice. have to wear that red red tie every monday. and played hai-dai ar hai-dai so loud during assembly that the discipline master was disrupted when he was making an announcement, but couldnt find the culprit.hahahaha. and did i mention i love the auditorium because it's 2 storeys high?!!! love to be in the 2nd storey during assembly. last but not least, how can i forget about our legendary chung cheng lake and all the beautiful trees surrounding it? love it to bits!!! :D though we always have to wait very long for our volleyball to float back to shore after dropping into the lake. :D
here and there, once in a while someone will kana bird shit halfway through morning assembly on parade square. hahaha. and talking about bird shit. i also kana before some years back when my family and i went back to penang. early morning 一下车就kana bird shit on MY HEAD!!!! and i've lost count of how many times i've stepped on dog shit while on my way to school. early morning skies still dark and i had to run shortcut across a big patch of grass to catch the bus, then always kana dog shit. WAH KAO!!! >:[ but i'm lucky coz my dear friends didnt shunned me becoz of the smell. hahahaa..
something even more disgusting and unbelievable....ever tried stepping on cockroaches with your bare foot? I DID!!! YUCKS!!!! of course is unintentional one la. got up early coz of exams, then walked across my room to dad's bathroom in the dark. on my way back, stepped on something! a bit moist, first thought was "不会那么准踩到蟑螂吧。。。" thought to myself...maybe it's a moth..then i slowly reached for the lights...TO MY HORROR IT"S A FILTHY COCKROACH!!!! and for the whole day i kept having the sticky feeling on the sole of my foot even though i already scrubbed my foot for a zillion times. that was a real nightmare. :S
anyway to sum it up..i think my life is rather amusing and interesting. a life that i would love to re-live again if i could. to see the good in life and appreciate what you already have is a gift that no one else can give. i thank myself for choosing to be happy and sanguine. <3
